Prof Brenda WingfieldGenetics/FABI DST Distinguished Woman |
The DST Distinguished Woman Scientist Award was created by the DST in association with L’Oreal and the National Commission for UNESCO to profile the achievements of leading women scientists in the South African science system.
Prof Wingfield is internationally recognised for her research in molecular biology and is the programme leader of the DST/NRF Centre of Excellence in Tree Health Biotechnology. She received her award from the Minister of Science and Technology on 8 August 2008 at a ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton.
