 Metabolomics and genomics

Zeno Apostolides was matriculated from Pretoria Boys’ High School and completed his BSc, and MSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry degrees at the University of Pretoria. His DSc was partly at the University of Pretoria and University of Delaware in the USA. He leads the Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) group in the Department of Biochemistry. He has a passion for medicinal plants and identifying the best cultivars (chemotypes) for high-potency  health properties by metabolomic and genomic studies. He has served on the editorial boards of several journals, and is the former editor of the International Journal of Tea Science.

Prof Apostolides was recently awarded an NRF rating of C2

GRI related research

Our current research is focused on identifying molecular markers for traits of agronomic importance in black and green tea (Camellia sinensis).
