EAP Services

The Employee Well-being Programme is a confidential programme for University employees, that offers short-term support, counselling and referral assistance in handling work-related- and associated behavioral problems.

Situations which may adversely impact employees lives, may include:

  • Substance abuse: alcohol, drugs, medication
  • Trauma / Crisis intervention
  • Work related issues (retirement, stress, work performance problems and conflict in the workplace)
  • Psychopathology (depression, anxiety etc.)

The EWP is a free service available to all University employees. There is no charge for meeting with an EWP Professionals at EWP@UP. However, EWP@UP renders limited scope of services, thus the screening of all counselling requests to determine if EWP@UP will be able to render services or needs to refer externally.

Sometimes, additional resources, or specialized treatment may involve additional costs. In such instances, the EWP Professionals will assist to find the most appropriate and affordable resource relevant to the need of the employee. Costs related to external or specialized services may be covered by the employee’s medical aid.
