Suzette Snyman is a permanent member of staff in the Information Design division at the Department of Visual Arts. Suzette is responsible for the Imaging and Visualisation subject, a core and practical subject for the BA Information Design degree that is concerned with the fundamental principles of drawing as a method of inquiry and a tool for problem solving. She coordinates the subject from first to third year and lectures undergraduate students on drawing as part of the subject. More recently, she has been instrumental in introducing visual research strategies and processes to aid the development of social innovation projects using mobile phones as part of the curriculum. Suzette also provides postgraduate supervision to Honours students, in keeping with the theme of the role of drawing in the design process. Her own research focus at present is on the relationship between drawing and cognition in imaging and visualisation processes in educational, research and communication contexts.
