SPMA and Kehl University to offer a joint master’s programme

Posted on March 15, 2019

The School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA) in UP’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences held a meeting with representatives from the Kehl University of Applied Sciences to discuss mechanisms for establishing a joint Master’s Degree in Public Administration and International Development Cooperation. The joint programme is unique for Africa in that it will consist of five blocks taught at four different universities, namely Kehl University of Applied Sciences (Germany), the University of Pretoria’s SPMA, the Centre africain d’études supérieures en gestion (CESAG) (Senegal) and the Ethiopian Civil Service University (Ethiopia).

The objective of the programme is to expose students to both European and African public administration, with emphasis on international development. Therefore, the target group for the programme will be both full and part-time employees from developed countries, developing states of Africa and university graduates with a background in administration, economic and social sciences, cultural studies or law.

It is envisaged that the joint Master’s Degree in Public Administration and International Development Cooperation will further strengthen the institutional cooperation, scientific and cultural exchange as well as mutual understanding and respect between the citizens of the Republic of South Africa and the Federal Republic of Germany.
