International academic at Early Childhood Education talks about fear

The Department of Early Childhood Education cordially invited an international guest to do a presentation on Fear. Dr Raul Andero from the Autonomous University of Barcelona’s Institute of Neurosciences presented the talk on 7 August 2018.

Dr. Andero is a principal investigator leading his own laboratory. His research is focused on understanding the biological basis of the brain in fear and stress processes at a cellular and molecular level. The lab also focuses on understanding the gender differences in fear memory circuits in both rodents and humans. Additionally, his lab is interested in finding better treatment solutions for fear-based disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder, phobias and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Dr. Raul Andero’s presentation mainly focused on the origin of fear and stress; explaining the biological basis of fear and stress; understanding gender differences relating to fear memories and possible treatment solutions for fear based disorders.
