Prof Kate Reynolds visited the University of Pretoria, Faculty of Education on 8 August to do a presentation on ‘Curriculum issues in the English educational system’. Professor Kate Reynolds is from the University of Bath Spa in the United Kingdom.
Prof Kate Reynolds is the Dean of Bath Spa University (UK) and holds strong ties with the Humanities of Education Department. Prof Reynolds visited the Department of Humanities for the first time in 2017, where after Dr Yolandi Woest was invited as visiting scholar at Bath Spa University (September 2017) and Prof Pieter du Toit (August 2018). Both academic visits resulted in international collaboration in the fields of professional development, teacher identity and gender-related issues.
During this visit, Prof Reynolds shared curriculum issues related to the British educational system as well as differences and similarities between the British and South African educational systems in a presentation on 8 August 2018. Her presentation was attended by several Faculty members and students, which lead to a lively debate and interaction. Prof Reynolds also presented a lecture on "Being a teacher" to a group of first year students and met with the newly-formed LGBT community group.
