Prof Heizō Takenaka gave a special lecture on the topic of the world economy and the outlook on the Japanese economy on 4 October 2017. After the brief lecture, he spent a substantial amount of time engaging with the audience, which included students, working professionals and academics.
Professor Takenaka is an economist and Professor at Toyo University, and Professor Emeritus at Keio University in Japan. He was appointed to the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum in 2007 – a position he still holds. During the span of his career as Minister of Economic and Fiscal Policy and Financial Services, he spearheaded Japan's economic reform and lead the movement that ended Japan's banking crisis. He was also the Minister of Privatisation of the Postal Service, and Minister of Internal Affairs and Communication.
