Drama Department awaited the publication of Play with Purpose: Lessac Kinesensics in Action in December 2017 with excitement. The book is published by the Lessac Training and Research Institute, New York. It is edited by Drama’s professor extraordinaire, Marth Munro together with Sean Turner and Allan Munro. Twenty writers have contributed to chapters in the book. Marth also contributed a chapter to the book. Jo-Ann McQuirk, an alumna of the Department, published a chapter in the book that stems from her Honours research project under the supervision of Morné Steyn.
The book situates Lessac Kinesensics as an interdisciplinary, embodied approach that contributes to human communication, behaviour and well-being. In the preface Sanja Bojanić hails the book as “a comprehensive and nearly complete overview of Lessac Kinesensics.” On the back cover, Marié-Heleen Coetzee offers that the book is “a manifesto of hope: using Lessac Kinesensics to activate and collectively vision an artistic and pedagogical future greated towards human flourishing.” The book is available via Amazon.com at https://www.amazon.com/Play-Purpose-Lessac-Kinesensics-Action/dp/0999616404.
