Film tourism study makes news

29 May 2018

Lecturers Charlene Herselman and Hannes Engelbrecht gave a presentation in Cape Town recently outlining the potential of film tourism for South Africa.

Their research has drawn interest from the media, leading to articles in the Business Day and on News 24.

The Department of Historical and Heritage Studies was commissioned to conduct research into film tourism as part of a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Department of Tourism signed in 2012. Charlene Herselman, who is one of the researchers in the project will be interviewed about the project on SAfm.

This research has clearly sparked public interest and is a showcase of one of the department's growing strengths in the area of film tourism and film history.
