Prof Elda du Toit and Ms Elize Kirsten, lecturers in the Department of Financial Management in UP’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, attended the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Gala Dinner on 21 September 2017 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
The Gala Dinner was hosted by CIMA’s Regional Vice President, Mr Badi Promesse. The glamourous event was attended by Mr Andrew Harding, Chief Executive of CIMA, Dr Noel Tagoe, Executive Director of Education of CIMA, representatives from various companies and universities, as well as CIMA members.
CIMA is the world’s leading, and largest, professional body of management accountants. Prof du Toit and Ms Kirsten is working closely with CIMA to ensure that UP students are on par with the global standards and a step ahead of the pack when they leave university. The BCom Financial Sciences as well as the BCom Honours in Financial Management Sciences degrees offered by the Department of Financial Management, are both acknowledged by the institute. Students completing these degrees will receive several CIMA exemptions when they join the institute, kick-starting their professional careers.
