Three staff members of the
Department of Financial Management at the University of Pretoria, namely Joanne Seligmann, Jacomien Visagie and Prof Elda du Toit, participated in the EDEN CIMA course, titled ‘Doing management accounting research: Towards excellence’. This course took place in Stellenbosch from 13 to 15 September 2017.
The course was presented by Chris Chapman from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom and Wai Fong Chua of the University of Sydney in Australia. The focus of the course was to establish the area of management accounting as a subject for research. In doing this, emphasis was placed on the diversity of research approaches that may be followed when attempting to obtain an understanding of management accounting phenomena.
The course participants comprised of staff members from various South African universities, and one PhD student from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.
