The second International Conference on Sustainability, Human Geography and Environment (ICSHGE18) held in Krakow, Poland in late 2018 attracted top academics and professionals to share their experimentation, novel ideas and research results regarding all aspects of sustainability, human geography, environment and interdisciplinary societal studies.

Among them was Mr Reon Matemane, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Financial Sciences. He presented a paper titled ‘Current literature and research opportunities in executive compensation: Evidence from a developing economy’.

The ICSHGE18 presented an opportunity for researchers, scientists, engineers, scholarly students and persons from local and international businesses and governmental organisations to discuss the practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted during their experimentation.

Mr Matemane explains: “I highlighted the state of knowledge on executive compensation from a South African perspective, what has been researched, what is currently known and what is still missing. This is based on my PhD research proposal that has now been approved.” He concluded his trip with an academic visit to the University of Gdańsk.
