About the X-Ray Analytical Facility

We provide analytical services to all major research departments on campus, to both pre-graduate and post-graduate students, students and researchers from other tertiary institutions as well as to outside clients who have any research and development needs.

We provide services ranging from sample preparation, sample sections, sample mounts, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) to Electron Microprobe (EMPA). For any other analytical requirements that we cannot assist you with we will kindly offer to refer you to colleagues who might be of assistance.

Location

We are situated on the main campus of the University of Pretoria in Hatfield with GPS coordinates S 25° 45' 21" E 28° 13' 51".

We are located closest to University road at the north-western side of campus.

Two ways to park on campus:

Use the parking entrance in the middle of University road to park in the undercover parking bays. This is however at your own cost. We highly recommend this to save time looking for parking.

Use any entrance to the university campus and navigate your way to the H14 parking area near the mathematics building. This is however not always guaranteed to contain an open parking spot.

You can find our building next to the herb garden between the A.E. du Toit Annex and the H14 parking area close to the Mathematics building.

If you can find a security guard with a campus map to his disposal you can indicate that we are building 40 on their maps.
