Academic discussions and teaching tutorials are held every morning as well as most afternoons.
It is expected that within 18 months a registrar must pass his/her primary examinations (MMed Rad Primary, comprising Physiology, Physics, or Anatomy and FC Rad Part I if so desired, comprising Physics and Anatomy), and that within five years the registrar must pass his/her final examinations (FC Rad Part 2. The MMed Rad qualification requires the submission of a research project/dissertation before the degree shall be conferred upon the candidate.)
A logbook must be kept by each registrar recording the type and number of procedures performed during his/her training.
Note: MMed Rad = Master of Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, University of Pretoria
FC Rad = Fellow of the College of Radiologists of South Africa
