The UP RAG events portfolio seeks to execute events that facilitate civic and community engagement and that engage in fundraising, whilst emphasizing the importance active citizenship among the student community. UP RAG aims to empower surrounding communities by using and sharing our privileged positions as student leaders to privilege and empower others. UP RAG also provides a platform for students at the university to experience student life and student culture.

RAG of Hope Day

UP RAG is hosting its annual student driven fundraiser RAG of Hope Day on 9 February 2019 at the LC de Villiers Uitspan Sports Ground. This family friendly event is open to the public so be sure to bring all your friends and family along. There is a variety of activities to keep you entertained all day such as sports tournaments, box cart races, indigenous games, live musical performances and, of course, food stalls. There is also a wide range of arts and crafts for purchase hand made by our very own RAG partners. And here is the best part. All proceeds raised help fund our numerous outreach projects for the year. And here is the second best part. Entrance to RAG of Hope Day is absolutely free!!

We are proud to announce that CANSA will host their CANSA Relay For Life at the Athletic grass track at RAG of Hope Day from 07h00-19h00. Check out www.relayforlife.org.za for more information.

RAG of Hope Day will be cultural celebration of civic and community engagement where students from the University of Pretoria can participate in an event which allows them to have fun, to enjoy healthy competition against each other, but also to build and foster relationships among their peers and with the community at large while engaging student driven initiatives. RAG of Hope Day will be an event that is for our community and by our community.

We strive to have more and more events that have a positive impact on the community in a manner that allows us to be sustainable and proactive.
