Traditions

Traditions:

Here at House Lilium, age is nothing but a number, so even in our youth, we have a few traditions of our own:

  • The font ‘Jokerman’ is Lilium’s trademark font. Lilium is also the only residence that has been trademarked as a brand. Through this the value of excellence is prominently seen within our residence.
  • The House song is sung at House meetings.
  • Lilium Wednesday is when all Lilium ladies wear their House shirt.
  • House values are said in the pledge at the end of each house meeting.
  • House week takes place around our Birthday, 21st July.
  • During House week, Lilium ladies greet the house by saying, “House Lilium, Our Pride!”
  • First years are called “Lily’s” until their final ceremony.
  • During Welcoming Week the HK are greeted by the First Years using a specific greeting: “Your Royal highness + name”.
  • The Primaria is called “My Majesty Your Royal Highness” (followed by her full name and surname) during welcoming week.
  • The First Year Guardian/ Ienkvoog is called “My Guardian your Royal Highness” (followed by her full name and surname) during welcoming week.
  • The HK must greet the First Years back, “Lily” (followed by their name) during Welcoming Week.
  • The domestic workers are called “Squeeza” and the security guards are called “Chief”.
  • Wear something Lilium to the House meetings. This shows your respect and commitment towards the house as a whole.
  • Wear something Lilium to sport events.
  • Every year House Lilium attends a Mokiti with the Groenkloof residences.
  • Each year House Lilium has a Formal House Dinner.
  • Each year House Lilium has a Prestige evening where they award the top achievers in res for academics and sport.
  • Unsung heroes happens once a year. Food and Toiletries are given to the Squeezas as well as a day of relaxation sponsored by the Lilium.
  • Lilium Ladies should always drink out of a straw.
  • No Lilium lady is allowed to walk outside of res wearing their slippers and/ or pyjamas.
