The Department is actively involved in the cytopathology screening programme of the Department of Health and renders a service to the Tshwane Metropolitan Clinics as well as clinics in other provinces. The Head of Department is the chief cremation referee of the Tshwane Metro and the senior pathologists in the Department also act as cremation referees.
