In 2011 the Centre received a founding grant of €300 000 from the Belgian government. It has also obtained financial assistance from the German government for a workshop held in April 2012 in collaboration with the United Nations Mediation Support Unit.

Belgium Donates €300 000 to University of PretoriaOn 1 November 2010 University of Pretoria Vice-Chancellor Prof Cheryl de la Rey hosted Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Institutional Reforms, His Excellency Mr Steven Vanackere, at the University.
