This week, a seminar co-hosted by the University of Pretoria, the Delft University of Technology and CSIR Built Environment took place at the CSIR Knowledge Commons.

The theme of this seminar was Smart Sustainable Cities and Transport with the view of identifying possible areas of collaboration that will help the cities of Tshwane and Amsterdam in their endeavours to become smart, resilient, and sustainable.

The Honourable Mayor of Tshwane, Mr Solly Msimanga addressed delegates at the seminar which is aimed at the three instituions presenting their respective research around the following themes:

• Communities, neighbourhoods and public space
• Heritage and Urban Redevelopment
• Resilience and Climate adaptation
• Big data and logistics

Professor Roger Fisher's book; Eclectic ZA Wilhelmiens: A Shared Dutch Built Heritage in South Africa was also lanched at this seminar.
