The Centre for Human Rights is s seeking to recruit an experienced consultant with knowledge of human rights, particularly women’s rights and familiarity with the African Human Rights framework. The consultant is expected to develop a State Party report to the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (African Commission), which comprises Part A on the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (African Charter) and Part B on the  the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (Maputo Protocol) for Liberia.

Minimum Requirements

• A master’s degree in human rights law, international relations, political science, gender and development studies or related field
• In-Depth knowledge of the African Charter and the Maputo Protocol and the State Reporting Guidelines issued by the African Commission
• A strong understanding of the legal frameworks and socio-political context of the selected country - Liberia -Nationals and residents of Liberia are encouraged to apply
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders including government representatives and civil society organisations
• Excellent research and report writing skills

Other Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behavioural Attributes)

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Experience in capacity building, facilitation and training
• Experience organising and hosting workshops
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate in one of the local languages of the selected country
• Time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
