What is the TuksHockey Youth Team?
The TuksHockey Youth team has evolved out of requests from school players to play club hockey. A Youth team gives TuksHockey management the opportunity to nurture and actively assist in improving the youth members of this club with the objective of long-term growth for both players and club.
How do I try out for the team?
We will have Trials on the 22 February 2019 & 1 March 2019 (girls) and 8 & 15 March 2019 (boys) from 17:30 and training sessions will then continue on a Friday.
What about Membership and Fees?
The fees are R2 000.00 for the season. The kit will be an additional cost of R650 and will include a shirt, short/skirt and socks. Once you have been selected for a team your coach will give you more information on how to complete and pay for your membership and kit.
Who are the coaches?
The coaches of the girls' team are Megan Anderson and Marizen Marais (Northens' Senior Player, SA Women's Player).
The boys' team will be coached by Samkelo Mvimbi (SA u21 Player).
Both teams will be assisted by Inky Zondy (TuksHockey Head of Programme and Women's Head Coach) & Sihle Ntuli (Men's Head Coach).
When will training sessions take place?
The training sessions will take place on a Friday afternoon directly after the Junior Programme from 17:30 - 19:00.
We would like to encourage players to continue with the Junior Programme if possible as the objective of the team sessions is to obviously work on team tactics, set pieces, match play and less focus on the individual skills. Although we will continue to train skills from time to time the focus is on preparing the team.
