The mission of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Pretoria is to: 

• Produce the best doctors and specialists with the highest level of competency, skills and leadership qualities.
• Consistently produce high quality research, published primarily in international, and where appropriate, in local peer-reviewed journals.
• Deliver the best possible patient care with dedication and compassion.
• Create an active and effective outreach programme that contributes to continued education and patient care in the primary care setting.
