In addition to your academic qualification, employers are increasingly expecting soft skills. Research has shown that skills and attributes highly rated by employers include critical thinking and problem solving, resilience, communication skills, teamwork and time management.
In a survey by QS (2018) on “The global graduate skills gap” several skills were identified as important for a graduate when entering the job market. Results of the survey indicated that the biggest gaps between an employer’s expectation and skills presented by graduates are (1) resilience (2) adaptability and (3) communication. Survey results released from Universum (2018) highlights 13 skills which employers require from new graduates with reliability first on the list
