Research

Research in the Department of Statistics takes place in four distinctive areas:

• Basic research in statistics and mathematical statistics
• Applied research in speciality areas such as econometrics, biometry, technometry, etc.
• Multidisciplinary research with UP-researchers at master's, doctoral and postdoctoral level (not commercial). These include statistical process control, distribution theory, data mining, generalised linear models, optimal design for linear mixed models, image processing, categorical data analysis, time series analysis, statistics education, bayesian network modelling,topic modelling for short text and biostatistics.
• Contract research at commercial level to comply with the needs of outside organisations.
