About us

The focus of the Student Development Division is on leadership development and capacity building of our students.

At UP our students’ academic outputs are of the highest priority but hand in hand with academic performance, we also develop our students to obtain additional life skills to equip them to perform optimally in all spheres of life as leaders.

By developing leadership skills in our students they are able to excel in student structures at the University but also on a broader level both nationally as well as internationally once they have completed their studies and pursue their careers.

Plenty of opportunities to put theory into practice and extend students’ scope exist in the form of extra-curricular activities that are facilitated by our SRC sub-committees (Student Culture, UP-RAG and Student Sport), the Perdeby student newspaper, Day Houses, Faculty Houses and special programmes such as Enactus and STARS Mentorship.

The division Student Development can be seen as a hub where student leaders are developed and nurtured to reach their full potential.
