Unit for Academic Literacy

The Unit for Academic Literacy assists students in developing the academic and professional literacies they need to succeed in their academic programmes.  We offer 18 undergraduate modules at first-year level, and two more advanced courses in academic literacy. Some of our modules focus on improving general academic literacy skills, whereas others support the development of subject-specific literacies.

We also offer advice to lecturers who wish to infuse academic literacy skills in their curricula and study materials. Please feel free to contact us about any need you have for collaboration on matters of academic literacy.

Finally, our lecturers are not only excellent teachers, they also do cutting-edge research and publish actively in scholarly books and journals. Lists of their publications are included under staff profiles, of which some publications are downloadable from UP Space.
