TUKS RAG AMBASSADORS CROWNING

Previously known as Debutantes, the aim was to develop registered female students through active participation in fundraising and community projects and this competition took place from the second semester every year until February of the following year. However, the name has now been changed and mainly it is to move away from a programme which was directed at developing young ladies’ skills at organizing, fund raising and being involved in community projects only. Thus a new and transformed RAG Ambassadors crowning should be expected.

Given the scope of different beneficiaries that the University of Pretoria aligns themselves with, students are to use various initiatives to raise funds for the community projects that they are passionate about. This programme is about enriching the lives of the underprivileged and as a result enriching student life as well. The event is organized by Tuks RAG, a non-profitable organization run by students. Its purpose is to develop students (male & female) by channelling their energy and their continuous search for fun into community & civil engagement projects.

We are currently on the final of the competition with 11 final contestants. The finalists have a chance to work on their own project for which they must submit a report for on the 19th of July 2018. Finalists are also required to submit a two-minutes video of why they should be crowned the RAG Ambassador.  The contestants will have a social media competition where they post about the road to RAG Ambassadors crowning, sharing their journey and inviting their supporters to the crowning, regulated by Tuks RAG, to accumulate points towards Mr & Miss Personality/Public Choice.

The crowing will be taking place on the 27th July 2018. Tickets will be sold at R20 and it is open to both UP students and the general public.
