Vision and Mission

Vision:

A global, African thought-leader of research, conservation and education pertaining to cetaceans in the Southern African sub-region and surrounding oceans.

Mission:

The advancement of the knowledge and conservation of Southern Africa’s and the surrounding ocean’s diverse cetacean fauna, through the development, and implementation of cutting-edge, conservation-orientated research themes, and the training and development of human capacity in the acquisition of cetacean knowledge bases.

Strategy:

The integration of the three strategic functions of Research, Conservation and Education to execute forward-looking programmes, integral for the understanding of conservation priorities for African cetaceans. Ongoing development of research and conservation capacity remains a central function of the Unit.
