Accommodation and Places to Eat

UP has residence accommodation available at most of its campuses. Should you need to apply for a place to stay at a UP residence, you must do so when you apply to study at UP. Remember that the demand for UP residence accommodation exceeds the space available, so please note that even if you are admitted to study a programme, you may not get a space at residence. If you are given a space at a residence, you need to pay a levy to secure your space. Accommodation is only provided for one year and you need to re-apply for the following year. A good academic average does help your chances of getting and keeping a space at a UP residence. If the residence that you choose is full, you will be placed on a waiting list for another residence which will be ranked according to academic merit and date of application. Even if you are given space at a residence on another campus, there are buses which shuttle students between campuses. If you are placed in a UP residence, it gives you a closer sense of connection to the University and is your home away from home where you can live and learn with your friends. There are friendly staff on hand to look after your well-being and assist you if you experience difficulties or need medical or emotional support. At UP residences, food is provided by external suppliers and students can buy affordable meals for themselves. Our residences are equipped with Wi-Fi that is free for students to use. Undergraduate students have to be studying a full-time programme to be able to apply and must be under the age of 24. In addition to UP’s residences, there are agreements in place with some private, accredited accommodation providers to which you can apply separately. There are many restaurants, cafeterias and coffee shops around our campuses which cater to a wide variety of tastes and preferences.
