PUBLIC THEOLOGICAL DEBATE ON THE STATEMENT:

Thursday 13 August from 10:30 to 12:20 in Hall 2-27 of the Information Technology Building on the main campus. Questions like the following will be discussed. "Is it only personal greed that is to be blamed, or also systemic greed that is part and parcel of the present market driven economic globalisation? What are the implications for our own personal lifestyle, and the present global economic system? Should our personal lifestyle be changed and the global economic system be drastically reformed?"

Participants in the debate are: Mr Dawie Klopper, an economist involved in PSG Konsult, dr Dion Forster, director of the movement Unashamedly Ethical, prof Deon Rossouw, head of the Department of Philosophy at UP and until recently president of the International Society of Business and Economic Ethics, and dr Vuyani Vellem, deputy executive director of the South African Council of Churches.
