The Department offers several short courses to the public.
Process Engineering in the fast lane
The latest developments in the field of integrated process-engineering software
Statistical Process Control
Introduction to statistical process control
Spreadsheets as a Process Engineering Tool
Embracing the capabilities of spreadsheets for application in process engineering
Model Predictive Control – a hands-on workshop
Application of MPC-techniques for control system design
Surfactant technology and its applications
This course provides attendees with sufficient insight and overview knowledge to enable them to apply surfactants creatively as a key formulation ingredient. More information is available at the link on the left.
Operation and design of small sewage works
The course is designed for consulting engineers, water scientists and technicians active in the design and operation of on-site sanitation and off-site small sewage works. After the successful completion of the course, the student would be able to optimally operate and assist in the process design of the particular sanitation or sewage treatment system.
National Water Act & water quality management
Part I deals with policies and strategies on water quality management, the National Water Act and water quality aspects. Part II deals with water quality aspects and the technical aspects of waste minimization, biological processes and physical-chemical processes (including membrane processes).
Operation & management of water treatment plants
Part I deals with treatment processes and the technical aspects of water treatment and the associated laboratory work. The objective is to provide the responsible person with the necessary tools and skills to effectively manage the technical and water-quality aspects and for the person not directly responsible, with the insight to understand the technical aspects.
