The Department of Construction Economics offers under graduate (BSc) and post graduate (BSc Hons) degrees in Real Estate.
The first phase of the programme is a three-year degree course. Passing all the modules in this course will result in a student obtaining a BSc degree in Real Estate. A student can only continue with the second phase of the programme once a BSc degree has been obtained.
The main focus of the three-year programme is the study of fixed property and related aspects such as property economics, development, management, valuation, financing, investment and marketing.

The second phase of the programme is a one-year degree course. Passing all the modules in this course as well as obtaining a minimum of 240 hours practical experience will result in a student obtaining a BSc (Hons) degree. Students can already start to accumulate the 240 hours of practical experience during the three-year BSc programme.

What can I do with my degree?
Real estate is the study of fixed property and related aspects such as property economics, development, management, valuation, financing, investment and marketing.
Apart from a future in areas such as property investment, property finance and facilities and property management, further studies to obtain an honours degree in real estate can lead to registration as a professional property valuer. Career opportunities encompass the whole spectrum of the property sector, whether as entrepreneurs in the private sector or as employees in the private, government or semi-governmental sectors.
