Syllabus

Ballroom & Latin

The Ballroom and Latin are divided into several 6-month courses: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. Once you have completed the Advanced course you can go into our Medal programme.

Social Dances

We have several dances we consider to be social or speciality dances. We do not offer these dances as part of our standard syllabus. They are added as part of our social syllabus. Basically, when the coach decides that the students are ahead of the standard syllabus they will be presented.
Salsa, Mambo, Sokkie, Boogie, Viennese Waltz, Paso-Doble, Argentine Tango

Beginners

Waltz, Foxtrot, Jive, Cha-cha - Basic steps.

Intermediate

Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Cha-cha, Jive, Rumba - Continue with more advanced steps in the Beginner dances.

Master Class

Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Cha-Cha, Jive, Rumba, Tango, Samba - Continue with more advanced steps from the intermediate syllabus.

Medal Programme

This programme continues with the dances but adds more technique and more variations. Every 6 months a student can decide if they wish to dance an examination to go onto the next level or continue at the same level.

Levels consist of:

Pre-Bronze, Bronze Bar, Bronze Medal, Silver Bar, Silver Medal, Gold Bar, Gold Medal, Emerald Star, Blue-Ribbon, Annual Award.

Ballet, Contemporary

Ballet and Contemporary are fairly new styles that have been included in our syllabus. They were added in 2013.

These are open classes, meaning that there will be Beginners, Intermediate and Master students in the same class. This presents several problems when it comes to presenting and designing a syllabus.

As such the teachers will strive to present the classes in such a way that most students can participate. Teachers will constantly evaluate the class progress and change the syllabus to fit the class structure the best.
