About the Department

The University’s facilities environment includes:
 
Buildings and other structures − offices, lecture rooms, auditoriums, laboratories, hospitals, parking structures, residences and housing and sports facilities such as pools, tracks, courts, pavilions and clubhouses, including appropriate building and area signage.
 
Building systems − heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, elevators and hoisting equipment, mechanical and pump installations, laboratory infrastructure such as gas lines, fume hoods and autoclaves, fire detection equipment, fire and intruder alarms, access control and observation systems (CCTV).
 
Services infrastructure − electricity, water and gas reticulation, substations, standby electricity generation, reservoirs and dams, sewer and storm water disposal, and roads and parking areas including road markings and road signs.
 
Campus services – environmental management, recycling, stores, vehicle pool, bus services, park and ride facilities, building cleaning and hygiene, maintenance and development of grounds and sports fields, waste removal, provision of furniture hygiene, and other centralised services.
