Meet the Chair

Dr Conrad Beyers

Dr Beyers is currently appointed as the Absa Chair in Actuarial Science at the University of Pretoria. He completed a PhD in Pure Mathematics in 2008, where after he qualified as an actuary through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. Dr Beyers is involved in interdisciplinary research projects in a range of areas including, involving the development of Early Warning Systems in banking and related financial systems. He is leading a research group that applies advanced modelling techniques to financial risk problems such as financial fraud detection, big data analytics and the modelling of interdependent financial networks (both in a research and consulting capacity). 

Dr Beyers is currently the Editor of the South African Actuarial Journal.
