Intelligent Systems

The Intelligent Systems Group (ISG) specialises in the theory and application of systems that perceive, reason, learn, and act intelligently. The aim of the group is to create real-world intelligent systems applicable in the South African context.

Research focus

Amongst other, the following knowledge fields form the theoretical basis of the group's activities: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Bayesian Methods, Data Fusion, Digital Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing, Computer Vision, Communication Systems, Control Systems, Embedded Systems, Parallel Processing, Pattern Recognition, Robotics, Real-Time Systems.
