Intelligent Systems Group - Postgraduate Studies

Prospective students interested in the research areas of the ISG should read about the departmental graduate admission requirements. Note that in order to apply for admission to the Masters program (MEng), a BEng(Hons) degree is required. The BEng(Hons) degree is a 1 year postgraduate degree (full-time) subsequent to a 4 year BEng degree.

Postgraduate studies therefore typically begins with a 1 year full-time BEng(Hons) degree, which entails coursework consisting of four 32 credit modules. In order to support the progression to Masters, a fixed Honours curriculum is prescribed for students of the ISG that is optimised to lead naturally to Masters research. Effectively the curriculum incorporates the majority of background and preparatory work required for a Masters and allows the student to focus exclusively on the research component during the Masters. The goal of the tight integration between the Honours and Masters is to allow full-time students to complete both degrees within a two year time-frame.

NOTE: Before registering for ANY postgraduate studies as part of the ISG, students MUST discuss potential research topics with one of the ISG study leaders and/or the group leader.
