ABSA Chair in Banking Law in Africa

Prof Corlia Van Heerden of the Department of Mercantile Law was appointed as ABSA Chair in Banking Law in Africa at the Law Faculty of the University of Pretoria with effect from 1 October 2013.

The objectives of the Chair are to establish a research intensive unit that will focus on developments in various aspects of banking law in Africa and abroad. During 2014 the Chair will be responsible for the presentation of the newly developed LLM module in Banking Law as part of the Mercantile Law LLM. The Chair will also supervise research masters and doctoral students, present short courses and convene conferences. Bursaries are available for eligible students and the Chair encourages prospective candidates to enquire about opportunities in Banking Law.
