Programme information

The master's degree is conferred by virtue of a dissertation (DEK 890) on an approved topic based on research.

Admission requirements

 

1.             Relevant four-year bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Human Nutrition

2.             Registration as a dietician with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)

Examinations and pass requirements

A minimum pass mark of 50% is required for the dissertation.

Pass with distinction

The degree is conferred with distinction on a student who obtains at least 75% in the dissertation.

The higher education sector has undergone an extensive alignment to the Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework (HEQSF) across all institutions in South Africa. In order to comply with the HEQSF, all institutions are legally required to participate in a national initiative led by regulatory bodies such as the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), the Council on Higher Education (CHE), and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
