Module content | Building blocks and metabolism of molecules, muscle and neurophysiology, cerebrospinal fluid and the special senses. Body fluids; haematology; cardiovascular physiology and the lymphatic system. Structure, gas exchange and non-respiratory functions of the lungs; structure, excretory and non-urinary functions of the kidneys, acid-base balance, as well as the skin and body temperature control. Nutrition, digestion and metabolism; hormonal control of the body functions and the reproductive systems. Where appropriate, case studies will be discussed in order to demonstrate the practical application of the gained physiological knowledge to the clinical management of a dental patient. Practical work to complement the theory. |
