CEEPA (the Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa)

About us

CEEPA was established by a Senate decision in 2001 at the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Pretoria (UP) in South Africa with the mission to “enhance the capacity of African researchers to conduct environmental economics and policy inquiry of relevance to African problems and increase the awareness of environmental and economic managers and policy makers of the role of environmental economics in sustainable development”.
An Advisory Board and Executive Secretariat govern CEEPA with support from a Research Committee. There is also an international Advisory Committee that is made up of international and regional experts who advise CEEPA on technical issues. CEEPA offers and manages several training, research and networking and dissemination activities in support of its mission. CEEPA Executive Secretariat managing this regional capacity strengthening program is supported by the Director Prof. R. Hassan, the coordinator Prof M. Chitiga-Mabugu.
