The Section of Clinical Pathology is responsible for teaching, service rendering and research in the discipline of Clinical Pathology. The section is involved in under-graduate teaching and clinical training of both veterinary- and paraveterinary students, and post-graduate training. The section also participates in various post graduate- and other research projects.
The services of the laboratory include haematology, biochemistry, blood-gas/acid-base analysis, protein electrophoresis, haemostasis assays, endocrinology, cytology and flow cytometry. State of the art equipment include the ADVIA 2120 Haematology System (Siemens), Cobas Integra 400 plus (Roche), Rapid Lab 348 blood gas analyser (Siemens), Diagnostica Stago ST art® 4 coagulation meter (Roche), thromboelastographers (Haemoscope), Immulite 1000 (Siemens), and Accuri C6 flowcytometer (BD Biosciences).
