“Geneious students unraveling the mystery of variation”

All undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Pretoria (UP) studying genetics related degrees are encouraged to join our society.

GeneUP was established in August 2013 and its mission is three fold:  Firstly we aim to create a link between our undergraduate students and post graduate students that includes ensuring that all students are aware of what to expect in the next year of study, equip every student with knowledge of how to deal with certain modules and to establish a mentoring program. Secondly we aim to create awareness among our UP community and surrounding community regarding the importance of genetic studies and research. Lastly we aim to explore genetics as a career locally and internationally through field trips to scientific institutions; professional development sessions; attending symposiums etc in order to become leading genetic research students in Africa!
