The race was held at Rustenburg on 28 and 29 May 2010 and covered a distance of nearly 1 200 km. He and team mate Vernon van Zyl participated in this competition with a Piper Cherokee 235, representing Kitty Hawk Flying Club.
Prof Delport says that he participated in this Competition to prove what he teaches his students, namely that anything is possible when you set your mind to it.
