On 2 October 2018, the UP Law team representing the University of Pretoria left for Bloemfontein to take part in the 14th Annual Kovsie Moot Competition. The team, comprised of Lauren Webber and Kyle Cloete, both first year BA Law students, was accompanied by coach Devan Falconer, fourth year LLB.

In June 2018, the Department of Mercantile Law in the Faculty of Law said goodbye to Drs Carias Chokuda and Benjamin Kujinga who have decided to pursue other career avenues. Dr Carias started his employment on 1 January 2012 and Dr Kujinga on 1 July 2014.
