The Nelson Mandela University held its ninth conference on Private Law and Social Justice from 21 to 22 August 2017 in Port Elizabeth. The Conference focused on the latest research and practical challenges in various areas of law in line with the constitutional agenda of transformation and social justice. Seven members of the Department of Mercantile Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria attended and presented papers on various topics with a social justice and transformative constitutionalism theme.
The conference brought together academics and researchers to share their experiences in their respective disciplines. It also provided a platform for networking opportunities among academics, practitioners and students from various institutions.
A highlight of the conference was the debate the different presentations sparked and the opportunity to see how colleagues identified and addressed social justice issues in their respective fields.
