Transport and Flights

Skukuza is located in the south of Kruger National Park. Johannesburg is just a 5 hour drive away and is accessible by road and air.
The closest entrance gate to Skukuza Camp is at the Paul Kruger Gate, just 12 km (7.4 miles) west of Skukuza, Kruger National Park - South Africa.
 
FLIGHT OPTIONS AND RECOMMENDED AIRPORTS

It is recommended that you fly to Sukuza Airport - airport booking code SZK located inside the Kruger National Park in close proximity to the Skukuza main camp and the adjoining Sabi Sand conservancy. There are daily flights operating from Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport. An alternative airport to consider would be Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMI) - airport booking code MQP 25km (15.5 miles) from Nelspruit and less than an hour's drive from the Paul Kruger Gate. You can book a car to drive from KMI airport at one of the below car rental companies located at the airport or book a transfer by sending your flight details to our tour operator Andrew [email protected].

Main gates at Kruger National Park as well as the camp gates open from 06h00 and close at 18h00. Please ensure that you arrive before 16h15 to give you enough time to travel to Skukuza camp.

NOTE - If you intend hiring a car we suggest that you arrive on an earlier flight to allow sufficient time for collection of the vehicle and travel to Skukuza camp. If you miss the gate closing time you cannot get into the park.

Late arrivals are only allowed in cases of emergency (proof and valid reason required) until 21:00 for guests with pre-booked accommodation at certain camps within 10km distance from the relevant gate. An extra late arrival fee will be charged which is payable at the gate. No late arrivals are allowed at Pafuri, Phalaborwa or Phabeni Gates or any other gates for camps more than 10km away.

• The late arrival fee for Skukuza camp is R500.

Please do not book your flight to arrive at Phalaborwa Airport or Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport. Both these airports also service Kruger National Park but are not located in close proximity to Skukuza camp.

Self-drive Option    
By road: The N12 from Johannesburg and the N4 from Pretoria take you on a 5-hour drive through Nelspruit to Skukuza. Paul Kruger Gate and Phabeni Gate are the 2 options for travel to Skukuza in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Access roads through the 8 gates into the Park are tarred, whereas tourist roads in the park are either tarred or are good gravel roads. The speed limit within the park is 50 km/h on tarred roads, 40 km/h on gravel roads and 20 km/h in Rest Camps.
Please plan your travel time accordingly. Main gates as well as camp gates to Kruger open from 06h00 and close at 18h00.
