Marielle completed her BA (Drama) and BA (Hons) Dramakunde at the University of Pretoria, and later completed a post-graduate diploma in Translation at UNISA, all cum laude. She started her career as a junior lecturer at Tuks Drama, and then moved to Stellenbosch where she freelanced as documentary maker, copywriter and editor.

Back in Gauteng she became production manager for the Blue Moon Company, working on various projects including the launch of Virgin Atlantic to South Africa. She also worked in Mr Mandela’s office, collating data for his Schools and Clinics project.

In the late 90’s she re-joined the UP Drama Department as production manager. When UP Arts was established in 2009, she became the manager of the UP Arts Production Logistics Unit. The unit not only serves the Drama Department but also works on other exiting projects, including the annual Vice-Chancellor’s concert as well as various Embassy productions.

Marielle is also a qualified therapy dog handler.
