Message from the HOD: UP Arts

Welcome to the website of the Department of UP Arts!

UP Arts strives to excel in the management of the broad range of the art and heritage resources of the University of Pretoria and in effectively marshalling them to support the academic and socio-cultural thrusts of the University vision.

The core responsibilities and functions of UP Arts is to ensure that we harness, cultivate, improve and integrate the wide range of talents, numerous priceless treasures and impeccable facilities of the university to the benefit of all students, personnel and the community at large, to ultimately employ the arts in general and our cultural resources to foster a sense of oneness, belonging and Ubuntu.

We strive to build an appropriate institutional tone by communing with audiences on an aesthetic and cultural plane through vibrant, diverse and exciting activities that ultimately foster a wholesome ethos which promotes holistic development, the optimal consummation of human potential, the edification of the mind, and a profound satiation of the human spirit through an appreciation of the arts.
